Summer Camp News letter Number 2

Lets hope this wet weather clears itself up by the time summer camp comes along.
My husband the local Waihi Farmer is very happy as I sit here inside unable to get in
my garden because of this lovely summer rain.
My first retraction I have to tell you about from the previous newsletter is that they
will of course be needing a ditty bag for the stay away nights. It was pointed out to
me that they best bring one for that. So please pack one in the bottom of their gear.
Plate, knife, fork, spoon, cup, and a t-towel. My mistake, I was only thinking about
needs on our site. I’m super sure some of you more experienced scouters were
already onto it.
Thankyou to those who have reached out to order the taller stretchers we have a few
spare still we can allocate. Other Leaders have offered their spares as well. Please
text me and order one, 0274171031 with the Scout name attached, thanks, if you
need to.
I need to have groups to bring sleeping tents Please. No one has volunteered to
bring any for us as yet. We need to have 4 boys tent and 3 girls tents and one leader
tent. I have most other equipment sorted. A washing line if you have one to bring
would be good as well. We will need storm lashing ropes for your tents as well these
should be clearly marked on each end with insulation tape or a painted ends.
We have youth from 9 different groups coming and if everyone brings a 6 man
sleeping tent with them from each of those groups we will have enough. Please bear
in mind that it would be wonderful if it could stay for the cub camp that follows after
the scout camp and be taken home with the cubs when they leave on the 14 th of
January.
The groups with Scouts coming are Chartwell, Lynmore, Remuera West, Matua,
Farm Cove Pakuranga, St Heliers, Taupo, Kirikiriroa and Matamata.
If you have some suitable tents to bring in your group, that you are confident to help
put up. Please let me know the group leaders name and phone number so I can ring
them to organise a delivery of a suitable tent.
